    About this paper

    5 mm graph paper

5 mm squared paper is the standard grid in school exercise books across Europe and much of the world. It is small enough for neat handwriting yet large enough to plot graphs by hand.

Set a bold line every 2 squares to mark whole centimeters, or every 10 squares for 5 cm blocks.

    Frequently asked questions

Is 5 mm graph paper the same as 1/5 inch?

Almost, but not exactly. 1/5 inch is 5.08 mm. Over a full page the difference adds up to a few millimeters, so choose the unit your project uses.

What is the difference between 5 mm and quad paper?

“Quad” paper usually means 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) squares, which is a little larger than 5 mm.

How do I make sure the grid prints at the right size?

In the print dialog choose “Actual size”, “100%” or “No scaling”, and turn off “Fit to page” or “Shrink to fit”. To confirm, print our free calibration test sheet and measure the 10 cm line with a ruler.

Is it free for commercial use?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no download limit. You can use the paper for classes, worksheets, products and client work.
