About this paper
Calligraphy practice paper
Each row has four guide lines: a thin ascender line, a dashed waistline at the top of the x-height, a bold baseline and a thin descender line. Ascender and descender spaces are each 0.7 times the x-height.
For broad-edge pens, set the x-height to about 5 nib widths: 10 mm suits a 2 mm nib. Slant lines are set to 83° (7° from vertical), a typical italic angle. Set the angle to 0 for upright hands or about 55° for pointed-pen scripts.
